Once again, if you follow a vegetarian diet or Meatless Monday is coming up, feel free to substitute the extra lean ground beef with veggie ground round. Trust us. You won’t be able to tell the difference
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil (regular, non infused)
- 1 ½ lbs extra lean ground beef or Veggie Ground Round
- ½ onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup ketchup
- ⅓ cup Infused Olive Oil (or Cannabutter)
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 ½ tsp salt, or to taste
- ½ tsp cracked black pepper
- 1 cup water
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper to taste
Equipment
- Heavy bottom sauce pan
- Medium Sauce Pan
Directions
- Place a heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat. Add regular olive oil and ground beef.
- Stirring frequently, cook until beef has browned and becomes crumbly—about 10 minutes.
- Add in onion, peppers, and garlic. Continue stirring until onions turn translucent. Remove from heat.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add all remaining ingredients for the sauce.
- Whisk rapidly until well combined, and the oily sheen has dissipated.
- Pour sauce over ground beef, and place the mixture back on low heat.
- Simmer for at least 30 minutes, until the sloppy joes mixture has thickened.
- Serve hot, over hamburger buns.
